| Teacher Request Letters |
Dear Parents,
The teachers, counselors, and administrators will be working together to create class lists for next fall during the month of April/May.
Your involvement can be an important step in the process. If you have information on the type of learning environment which works best for your
child and wish this to be taken into consideration during our placement process, please write a letter to Dr. Ray. Send the letter to the front
office to Dr. Ray's attention by Friday, March 26th. If you have more than one child, please send a SEPARATE letter for each child.
It is important to realize that placement decisions are the responsibility of the administration and that the highest priority consideration is to
maintain a small class size. Also, it is important to remember that many other factors influence these decisions. These factors include special
program inclusion (FOCUS, ESOL, & Special Ed.) as well as the need to maintain a balanced group.
Please be reminded that we will not accept specific requests to have or not to have a specific teacher, but we will appreciate information you share
with us concerning your child's educational needs.
Only letters of this nature and those turned in by the March 26th deadline will be considered.
Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher M. Ray
Principal

5th Grade Rocks!
It was a great event and just one more way for the 5th graders to celebrate their final year at GES. What a great night it was.
Over 80 classmates turned out on a cold, rainy night to attend the JAM FEST. The DJ was awesome, the contests were superb, and the
popcorn and cookies were delicious. This 5th grade event was fabulous!

Martial Arts
Grayson Elementary Martial Arts Focus and Fitness Club
Sponsor/Contact: Mrs. Kristie Horn
Grayson Elementary is currently offering a Martial Arts Focus and Fitness club on Wednesday mornings. The current session is going extremely
well and we have received excellent feedback from both students and parents. The next session of the Martial Arts Focus and Fitness Club is
scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 17th. The club will still meet from 7:45 to 8:20am on Wednesday mornings for 9 weeks. There are now
two certified instructors leading the class and the enrollment rates will stay the same as the first 9 week session.
BENEFITS OF MARTIAL ARTS...
Research has shown that children who participate in forms of "Martial Arts" are more confident, have better self-control, and concentrate
better in school. It also helps to improve self-esteem & teaches self-discipline. Pediatricians have also "prescribed" martial arts for
children who require a high-energy activity to help channel aggression. Focus, Fitness, and Fun will be our three main goals. Each week, the
Black Belt Instructor will focus on "Character Development Traits", for example: respect, organization, perseverance, determination
just to name a few. The instructors will also be teaching your child a variety of Martial Arts/Self-defense techniques. In other words...
Your child will be learning valuable life skills as well as getting "Fit". Can you think of a better way to start their day?
Registration forms are available from the Martial Arts Club link on the GES Web-site
and will be sent home by Friday Folder on March 3rd. If your child (children) is/are interested in enrolling please print the form and return it to
Kristie Horn. If you have any questions or concerns you may also contact Mrs. Kristie Horn via email at Kristie_Horn@gwinnett.k12.ga.us.
A frequently asked question this past session: What do the students wear? Martial Arts T-shirts and Martial Arts pants will be available for purchase. However, your child may simply wear comfortable P.E. clothing and is welcome to change in the bathroom after class if necessary.
