Bringing public awareness and making a difference in peoples' lives…
National Wear Red Day (February 5)
National Wear Red Day is a day when Americans nationwide wear red to show their support for women's heart disease awareness. Heart disease is the #1
Killer of Women. This campaign encourages American women to take action towards heart health. It is a day of opportunity; uniting people in a
life-saving awareness movement. So wear your favorite red dress, shirt, tie or Red Dress pin (national symbol for this campaign). More information
can be found at www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/hearttruth.

P.E. News
Happy New Year!
WOW, it has been a great first month of the New Year in PE. The kids have worked really hard during our "fitness circuit" here in PE and continued at home during "commercial time" as they watched TV. I would like to THANK YOU parents with all of the involvement with "commercial time". The kids have come in and have talked and talked about how "my parents" worked out with me at home. Awesome!
As we start off February, we will be starting with "striking with long/short handle implements". We will do various activities with striking. We will start back up on some of our (2nd) go round with our Fitness testing. Please continue to help your child with exercising and watching the foods that they eat. We will continue to work on our heart with various cardiovascular activities.
Last, (FIELD DAY, FIELD DAY) I would like to go ahead and give you a heads-up with our upcoming 2010 Field Day. Our dates for Field Day will be May 10th-14th. I will need plenty of parent volunteers for our "relays" (hint, hint). I will send out times for all of the different grades "relays" as we get closer to the actual date. Please continue to look for upcoming details for our 2010 Field Day.
As always, all help is greatly appreciated throughout the school and with PE.
Hope you all have a great month of February.

Science News
We are always busy in science! The science room appreciates getting
wrapped candy, stickers and little toys for the Treasure Box. There are
five tables in the science room and Mrs. Green always picks the table doing
the best work and having the best manners to visit the Treasure Box during
a class visit. Thank you to all of the parents who have been sending in
these items for science. We can always use pencils too. Pencils seem to
grow legs and walk away! In the upcoming weeks, science can use: old
keys, old sunglasses (toy ones too), plastic Easter eggs that you cannot
see through, and shoe boxes. Science continues to collect plastic jars
with lids and 35mm film containers with lids. Your child follows the AKS
in science. Mrs. Green follows the "big topics" that the classroom
teachers are working on. Come and visit the science
room.....................there are always lots of items to pass out, lots
of items to collect, lots of children who could use a helping hand, lots of
dishes to wash, etc. Thank you for your support in science.
